dangerous brain
I've stuck it in here as its an aristo loom but essentially its the same as a J-spec tt supra loom. I'm a tad on the surprised side right now. My aristo has been giving me intermittent electric faults mainly ecu related, Tonight I decided to open up the sheathing on the loom above the ecu. I'm quite shocked to find that theres quite a lot of crappy splices just wrapped in insulation tape. Is that normal for stock toyota wiring? When looking at the wires that are spliced its sensor wires to the earth. Why for instance would you splice an earth into a sensor wire before it goes into the ecu? Surely the electrical signal would take the route of least resistance and go directly to earth there-by not feeding any signal to the ecu? Camshaft sensor and knock sensor no 1 and no 2 are spliced into the ecu's main earth. I'm no electrician but that seems a tad odd to me. Only thing that occurs to me is that the wires are shielded and it its the shielding thats been earthed but it doesn't look particularly professionally done.
