Gough
Good evening The front tyres on my supra are wearing out quicker than the rears, albeit only by a small (but noticeable) amount. I thought this was a bit odd what with the supra being a powerful rear driver, but on the other hand the front wheels are carrying that lump of an engine around. The car had a geometry check by CW back in January. Does anyone know whether or not such an occurance is normal in supras? Thanks for any help, Gough
Whitesupraboy2
well my fronts are lasting out my backs by miles. almost 2 rear sets to one front set
Timwildman
My fronts seem to last about twice the miles of the rears. Is the wear even? It might be the pressures.
Gough
Thanks for the replys guys. I don't remember the front tyre wear being particularly uneven but I'll have another look to be sure. There's definately something a bit odd going on. I check my pressures every few weeks and make sure they're at 36psi all round - I have 18" GS300 alloys (not that that should make any difference). Any other thoughts on this anyone
Gough
The only thing I can think of is what happened just over a month ago. The car was giving a LOT of excessive feedback through the wheels for about a couple of weeks, before it got even worse and I realised the front shocks needed replacing. Isn't it the case that driving miles on knackered front shocks would wear the front tyres far quicker?
Whitesupraboy2
i have 34 psi on backs and 32 on front with my tyres. im sure i read that on here somewhere. cant help with your other question mate sorry
Gough
Ok thanks anyway Wsb2, as far as I know the factory figures are 36psi all round, but I stand to be corrected.

TRD3000GT
Shocks or tracking.... More thasn likely tracking..
Gough
Thanks very much for all the replies so far guys The tracking/geometry/allignmnet (?) was done in January so I would have thought it was those weeks driving around on progressively worsening front shocks that increased the wear rate. Having said that, perhaps its time to get the tracking done just in case.

Gough
Hi Peter, I'd steer clear of them personally; someone on here must be able to recommend a reputable specialist in the West who can do the job?

Gough
Crikey Peter those Kumho tyres are well priced. Plenty of people seem to criticise them but I'm waiting to hear from someone with first hand experience!
