I watched that. The horror of that lobotomy guy, and the other chap who was experimenting with electrode implants! He "proved" his theory worked by implanting a bull mid-bullfight, then going out and facing the charging bull. When he pressed his remote, the bull stopped in its tracks.

No sh*t sherlock, you were electrocuting its brain, of course it stopped. That experiment proved nothing, in my opinion.

Brain surgery is done with the patient awake where possible. Its very weird thing to watch, they quiz you as they do it to check the damage they are doing. I love watching programs on that stuff

I think that's a legitimate criticism of that particular demonstration, but you have to put it into context with the rest of Delgado's work - a huge body.

 

Freeman, the 'lobotomy guy' was eventually struck off - after another patient death, I think. But he was pretty old by then and lobotomies had largely been superceded by drug interventions.
