Ewen
I'd forgotten about this guy, but found him again. Wow.
Guest gzaerojon
didn't pull star power once very good though (excluding the mullet)
Tannhauser
Crikey, there's a name I didn't expect to see on here. He's great, isn't he? I love that first album of his - 'Tones'. The sleeve notes by that mate of his drive me nuts, though.

The sleeve notes by that mate of his drive me nuts, though. I thought Tones was his second album but my memory is shot. Used to love this stuff. His drummer around that time was Jerry Marotta who also featured on Peter Gabriels solo albums late '70s / early '80s....which is how I 'found' Eric Johnson in the first place. All very incestuous, and ultimately fascinating.
Tannhauser
You're right - I just looked it up and there was indeed an album before Tones. I didn't know that. I discovered him through a guitar magazine in 1985 ish that had him on the cover and the legend 'Who is Eric Johnson?'. I didn't know about the Peter Gabriel connection either. I've got a video somewhere of the G3 tour with him, Vai and Satriani. It's not a match made in heaven, his style doesn't sit well with theirs, in my opinion. Ewen
Having a lot of fun here, looking up stuff from the past, links leading to other links, jogging memories etc. Just been cringing over Steve Hillage, Be Bop Deluxe and Ted Nugent. Bonus link tonight, Jeff Beck covering The Beatles A day in The Life.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32Ln-SpJsy0

Tannhauser
Ted Nugent "Intensities in Ten Cities" - that's pretty good for a rock guitarist. I've still got 'Wango Tango' on tape somewhere. Probably next to Sammy Hagar, April Wine, Triumph, etc.

What would be your perfect G3? Mine would be Luthaker, Petrucci, Malmsteen
Tannhauser
What would be your perfect G3? I'd like to see a comedy one in which one of the players was ludicrously outclassed by the others. e.g. Allan Holdsworth Frank Gambale Noel Gallagher Paul Gilbert Steve Vai Francis Rossi Alternatively, I'd like to see any G3 line up beat Snow Patrol to death with their guitars. hoff
An absoloute joy. I will be plugging mine in tonight I think when I get in from doing the car. But I'll just stand infront of the mirror wishing I was Jimmy Page instead of actually improving any.
Mike
Alternatively, I'd like to see any G3 line up beat Snow Patrol to death with their guitars. I agree... and then as an encore be handed fresh guitars and set about Chad Kroeger
