Netbook or Laptop for browsing?

I am looking to purchase either a laptop or a netbook mainly for browsing the internets using the house wi-fi.

I would probably like to use MS Office but I think thats about it software wise.

I also want to use remote desktop so I can start downloads on my "media pc".

 

I am not planning on taking it out of the house, but it will be picked up and moved from room to room (or table to sofa) quite a lot, so the light weight of the netbook appeals.

 

I went to Comet / PC World this morning and found one of each type that I liked, but I am a bit stuck on laptop vs netbook.

One thing that both of these suffer with is relatively low battery life. I would like this to be as long as possible, but will live with 2 hours if its all my money buys.

 

I am only looking to spend £200-300.

 

I prefer XP which the LG has. I expect that I could put XP on the laptop but I'd rather not have to bother.

 

 

If anyone has any advice/ pointers it would be gratefully received
