gannon888
hi, ive just tried replacing my varis bumper with a bomex, but it doesnt seem to want to fit, its a second hand bumper so it should go on quite easily, does the crash bar have to be removed for bomex? cheers

JS2004
Is there any way to keep / slightly move the crash bar and have this bumper fitted? Id really like to keep it in place but this bumpers getting fitted to mine.. bodyshop also says they recommend keeping the crash bar.. i know its only a bit of aluminium offering low protection but in the bang ive had recently it kinda stopped damage to the radiator and some other bits.. if it wasnt there, in that instance.. id be up the creek without a paddle at the moment! pistonbroke
If you want to keep crashing, keep the Varis. If you want a new bumper but don't think you can stop crashing, a smaller crash bar is your only option. I have a spare one if you want to mod it, just chop it down to size a bit. JS2004
I get what you mean, but i dont exactly plan on crashing it, its just unfortunate that sometimes accidents do happen and id rather have it since its a safety feature than not have it its just a precaution. If it can be chopped down a bit and modded then thats the info I was after cheers
paul mac
id rather have it since its a safety feature than not have it the front "crash bar" in reality is a bit of very light weight aluminium designed to crumple in the event of a low speed shunt and protect the end of the chassis rails and the radiator, in the event of a life threatening frontal impact it will do absolutely nothing so from a safety point of view i would not worry about it, to have any effect it would have to be as substantial as the rear crash bar which is built to brick sh*t house proportions and is designed to protect the fuel tank in a rear end impact
pbryant_knight
Just ditch the crash bar, easiest way Peter
dude
I would rather change my rad etc than the chassis legs when it pulls them in as you hit something!!!!!!
JS2004
Cheers for the feedback and thats quite a good point dude.. Ill have a word with the body shop and see if theyre comfortable doing it without the crash bar. Thanks guys =)

Thanks guys =) I believe its only there to pass the test of the bumper not deforming in a 5 mph impact, normally it has a big lump of polystyrene on the front of it to keep the nose in shape!!!!
