Benzsupra
Hi, I've been asked to look at a laptop for a friend as it was turning on then straight off again. When i unpacked it i saw that the power supply wasn't the original one so i checked the power rating online for the laptop and it needs 20V 3.5A, the power supply is set at 15V 2.3A. I can adjust the power supply to 20V to match but the sticker on the Power supply says at 20V it will have an output of 7.5A! Now all of that is a bit out of my range of knowledge range as i deal with software! My question is what will happen if i turn the PSU up to 20V and plug it into the laptop? I'm pretty sure this is the problem but i don't want to test it this way without checking i'm not going to blow it up LOL Thanks, Ben
JustGav
The PSU is rated at 7.5A at 20V, means that the voltage will be 20v, and it can deliver UPTO 7.5A. The laptop should be fine, however you would be better off using the proper supply.
