Carl
I am going to buy a new Canon SLR Camera. I will be taking pictures of some fast moving cars etc plus I do a lot of scenery and portrait type pictures. I was offered both a 400D and a 40D from friends of mine that are selling these two cameras. I am likely to go for the 40D as this is meant to be the better camera although I have no idea what mmakes it a better camera. Can anyone clarify what makes the 40D better over the 400d? colsoop
A better sensor. Easier access to everything Proper weather sealing Better AF system with more focus points Customiseable menu options More Iso settings Plus a whole heap more features yo may never use Don't forget though the body is only as good as the lenses you put on it, if your going for a 40 d then consider a couple of L series lenses too ! I have the 40 d and it is a great camera. Google is your friend: http://www.komar.org/faq/camera/canon-40d-versus-rebel-xti-400d/
Carl
Cheers for the info.. Looks like it will more than do the job for me. I am buying the body initially but will save for a good lense next. As a tempory fix I will probably use the stock 450D 18-55 lense.
colsoop
This is a really good ultra sharp walk round lens when funds allow: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-17-40mm-4-0-USM-Lens/dp/B0000C4GAM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1229200018&sr=8-

DamanC
Dont know if it is just me DAT, but all your photos seem a little dark/grainey? Is it some photoplop filter you have applied, or were they shot like that?
DAT Inter
They have all been photoshopped to a certain extent so thats where some of the grain has come from. Im upgrading to a 50d when i can.

Is it some photoplop filter you have applied, or were they shot like that? He's taken a couple of the shots at 800 ISO and another at 1600 which is why they are grainy, far too high imo, it might be the camera is set to auto exposure? Good pictures Dat Inter. i have seen some of yours before and its amazing what the Canons can produce with a good eye behind the lense. Hopefully the 40D should give even more scope. quite looking forward to my new camera now.

Supradoopa
Try thinking of the 40D like a twin turbo and the 400D as the N/A That's how i'd see it in my opinion of my course I've often shot at 800 ISO, don't see any problems with it
