martin1982
Course is at Wolverhampton University. Anybody know anyone or have any experience with this type of course? My main concern is that it'll be one of courses that you won't really have needed to do to get a job in that industry. So i'm just looking to see if anyone has any idea or advice as to whther it owuld be a waste of time...
Multics
I'm not sure about those degrees to be honest. My ex did something along those lines, music business management degree a few years ago. There were some interesting topics but they were pretty much common sense and they applied to a lot of other sectors, not just music. Having spent many years in that trade (running a record label, limited vinyl pressings only) in my opinion this degree wouldn't have helped me whatsoever but again it depends on the content, subjects. As for my ex who did complete and got a degree, she had a very hard time to find a job in the music business (majors, distribution etc). She ended up working as promotions assistant for a famous night club in London.
martin1982
Thanks, I had a few mates who di Video Production/Film degrees and have struggled to get jobs. Most were told to start in the industry then go off and get the qualification... Think I best do some more research on the course....
Holden1989
im on a foundation degree, is there not a option to do a furthur year and get your hons? its like a top up year Hons degree looks far better on your CV than Fd degree
martin1982
Yup there is an option to top is up to degree level. Would be something I'd consider depending on how I get on with the FD. TBH already have a Law degree, didnt do very well as it bored the sh*t out of me, but was one of those "your dad had work really hard so you can have this opportunity" scenarios so I felt obliged to complete it. Just fancied trying something that actually interests me....
Holden1989
My foundation degree is Equine Sports and Performance, horses have been my life for a good part of 15 years, and i find its so much easier to sit and write long winded essays if its something you are actually interested in if its something you enjoy, i say go for it, Fd isnt that technical so shouldnt be a drag
