Tannhauser
Hi My better half's son has a Fiat with a Clifford 300 fitted. It's been going off intermittently for a while. Tonight it started going and wouldn't stop. Disconnecting battery etc didn't work. Remotes wouldn't touch it. So in desperation, we've taken the alarm unit out and cut the loudspeaker off. Obviously, we're going to get it to a specialist, but in the meantime, is there anything simple we can do to stop the indicators flashing? Also, I'm concerned about it starting a fire or something. This may be stupid, but I remember seeing the results of a Clifford malfunction in Dude's car.... Thanks in anticipation Cliff
Toms Supra
Take out the hazard relay may stop them flashing although obviously you will have no indicators as well.
Matt Harwood
but I remember seeing the results of a Clifford malfunction in Dude's car.... Cliff That wasn't a Clifford problem. First thing you should have done/should do, is enter the valet code. That over-rides the system, and disarms it. If the remotes weren't working, open up the casing and look at the battery holder clips. You may find that the clip that holds tha battery has broken away from the PCB. It's the one at the top/middle you need to be looking at, and it may require a tug to notice it's loose. If that is the case, re-solder it and it'll be fine again. Alternatively, if the car's battery was flat, no amount of remote puching, or valet code entering will stop it until you have connected up a decent power supply. (Jump leads, charger, etc.) Hope that helps. - Feel free to contact me if you're not sure.
