npotts
Hi Guys One thing about being a Motorbike owner, is that I have the option of changing the sprockets on my bike to improve acceleration and cut something off the top end. After all, when am I going to get the chance to do 160+mph?! Being pretty un-knowledgeable with cars, I was wondering if anyone could give me some technical advice... Is it possible to amend the equivalent of a motorbike sprocket on a Supra? I very rarely do over 100mph, and was wondering about changing the gearing (if thats what it is) to improve acceleration and lose some of the top end. Is this something that can be done? Has anyone on here tried it on a NA or a TT for that matter? Cheers in advance for any advice Nick
Digsy
Probably the easiest way to do what you are after is to change the final drive ratio by swapping the diff. There are one or two options available off the shelf from the different models. No idea what they are but someone on here might do. HTH.
b_have
Stick 14" wheels on it

Alex
The TRD Diff will lower your top speed. Can't give you the specific gearing no.s but I believe it knock around 8-10mph off your top speed...Though doing that may mean your MPG goes down... Miguel
????? the TRD uses your original ring gear ..How does it knock speed off ???

Miguel
Well I had to use the stock ring gear when I fitted it to Terry's hence the ????? No offence intended at all, just pondered on how it would do it
npotts
hmm.... sounds like its not a straight forward change then! I would have thought it would be quite easy - goes to show my limited knowledge on cars.... Cheers for the help though guys. I doubt I will be sticking any 14" wheels on it though ;-) Nick

Guest Terry S
As Mig says the ratio's with the TRD diff kit installed stay the same. It reuses your stock Ring.
Guest Terry S
I have raised the gearing before. If your car is manual, try an auto diff, if it is auto, you are stuffed if you want lower gearing Hi Guys One thing about being a Motorbike owner, is that I have the option of changing the sprockets on my bike to improve acceleration and cut something off the top end. Alex
Cool - I'd always been under the impression the top speed was lowered....I'd prefer it not to be Infact I'd like it raised I tried to find 7th yesterday lol How does the TRD diff sound? Is it obvious it's not stock?
Guest Terry S
Bang a UK manual diff in mate. How does the TRD diff sound? Like stock, it is noticably tighter though.
