xanderroan
hey, it's my last few days in edinburgh before heading back south and i was just wondering if any of the locals could recommend any nice driving routes say 10-20 miles with sights / good pubs to stop at (for a coke ofc)
CraigGilchrist
There isn't a whole lot to reach within that sort of range, perhaps just do a few laps of the town? You could always just drive out towards teh countryside by aiming for Peebles or Galashiels, I guess. That said, if you want to be able to head to a pub or something you could try out towards North Berwick, as at least you go through a bunch of wee towns and whatnot. Todd
Head over into Fife, loads of nice roads to play on there Or take the some of the back roads down from Edinburgh to the M74, loads to choose from and lots of villages with little pubs.
Ewen
Bass Rock, basically off the coast near North Berwick is an incredible sight. Lindisfarne (Holy Island) is worth visiting too, its a wee bit further south down the A1. Check the tide tables first though if you visit, as the causeway is flooded twice a day. Ewen
Tell me about it Oops...did you get caught Todd ? I was brought up there, beautiful place. The causeway can be treacherous for those who ignore the tide tables and gamble on making it across. Cars are washed off regularly and a few deaths have occurred over the years. There was a ghost story told when I was a nipper about a man and wife washed off the causeway at night in a Morris Minor...the man survived, his wife drowned...the car was washed clear over to the Bamburgh beacons before it was found. Her ghost was said to be seen standing on a sandbar at low tide on the anniversary of the accident.

Used to love some of the twisty ones in my old one on the way back to St Andrews, but it wasn't a TT like yours!
