Guest mattsupra
maybe a belt going round it ? at a guess anyways
Mike M
maybe a belt going round it ? at a guess anyways Hey hey, for 15 years as well. Cant believe toyota wont sell the pulleys separate. Going to see if I can make an ally pulley up for the old tensioner as its too good to throw in the bin.

It happened to my top rad hose, where it had heated up and gone cold over time, had made the hose slack and loose causing me to lose coolant... dangerous brain
You can get polished hard pipes to go there AFAIK. The tensioner should be replaced on spec as when they get old they are known to let go (ask wsb2 what happens when they do)
Mike M
Yeah, I did fit a new tensioner yesterday but cant bring myself to throw out the old one yet, spring tension felt just the same on the new one tbh. Those plastic pulleys feel like cheap sh'te.

Me too, I'm spending enough as it is just trying to catch up on all the things I should have done last year plus fixing a couple of surprise failures. Nearly there though:)
