Error code 31

Need help with an error code 31

I’ve got a J-spec auto TT with hybrids.

While driving, my engine cuts out, there’s no real signal that it’s going to do it before it does, it only ever happens while the engine is revving between 1k – 2.5k. I pull over and stop the car put it in P then restart it, and it fires up 1st time, just like nothing has ever happened. Other things I’ve noticed are that when the car is cold it idles at 800ish and when warm it idles between 1k and 1.2k when put into N. EGT’s when idling are about 500c and between 600c and 700c when cruising.

Error 31: -

Open or short in air flow meter circuit for 3sec. or morewith engine speen less than 3000rmp.

any suggestions please?

regards

Ross

it will be your fuel cut defender. Ive had a total nightmare trying to sort this out, but its done now.

take out your FCD reset your ECU and check for codes. (This it just to iliminate the FCD from the pic before someone jumps all over me for telling him tho take it out) Your alarm sould be gone.

if this is the case, then either put your old FCD back in or buy a new 1 just incase.

Hope this helps mate.

Oh and make sure you solder it well or your back to square 1.

Good luck.

I have a thor unit in mine but I dont think they make um anymore. I heard the greddy or HKS units are pretty good.

After you rejoin your map sensor wire rset your ECU and do a fult check. The car doesnt have to be idleing to do this.

good luck mate.
