supra matt
Not really mate you should never mix any different type of antifreeze or oil as they may contain different chemicals which could react .

Guest DaveWilko
For all the time it would take I would drain it. Do you know how old the old coolant is? You don't want to be overheating in the ass end of nowhere and if the car is loaded up with gear and if it is hot weather you might be better off with new coolant

Tricky-Ricky
Most commercial antifreeze consists of pretty much the same ingredients, the colouring is usually a branding thing.
Guest DaveWilko
Ach mate! Half an hour should do it and half of that will be waitin around for the coolant to drain out! lol. Sure it will be one less thing to worry about. Everybody sing along! Always look on the bright side of life

dangerous brain
Your motor is meant to have toyota red coolant in it not that cacky green or blue stuff. Its down to what type of anti freeze it is ie ethyl based or methyl based I think. So in answer get the blue/green mess out and put one of the red types in. Guest DaveWilko
I have mixed different coolants before and it made no difference. As Ricky says, they are all pretty much the same. It just depends how much peace of mind you want. I'm just sayin if you don't know how old your coolant is it might be worth takin the time to put a fresh lot in
Tricky-Ricky
Yes the red stuff is just Toyota's way of getting more money out of you;) used the blue in mine for two years now, after flushing out the mud coloured residue, lots of it, left by the red stuff. dangerous brain
Blue and green are the same type AFAIK the red ones are different. Like I said you need the red one so for now bung some water in it to sort out the lowness of the system and get some of the red stuff from toyota or a third party seller. I would also consider putting some water wetter in there with the new fluid http://www.redlineoil.com/products_coolant.asp

Guest DaveWilko
Stuff called Radiator relief seems good. Was in last month Banzai mag. Its meant to reduce temp by up to 30 degrees and water warms up 50% faster from cold start. £11.69 per bottle from http://www.nimbusmotorsport.com or phone 01377 236170 Lol just went on that website and it is up to 15 degrees cooler, not 30. Banzai messed up
