scottysupra
Hi all. Ive got a problem with my boost pressure at the moment i have fitted: Blitz nur spec r cat back exhaust Apexi panel air filter uprated walbro pump iridium spoark plugs fuel cut defender restrictor ring The problem is my boost is only peaking at 0.6 bar and it should be 1.2 bar with these mods. It was running 0.6 bar before i carried out the mods too so the boost hasnt even raised. Any ideas???
Supradan
If you still have the cats in then i wouldnt expect much change Mine has both in and i have an hks ti cat back and i get 0.9bar.

flukey-lukey
The restrictor ring is too restrictive? (mine was so I took it out) Your boost gauge isn't reading properly?
scottysupra
That could be possible but my boost reading was exactly the same before i put the restrictor ring in. I cant be 100 percent sure my boost guage is reading correctly but it doesnt feel much quicker and it is still reading the same now.
Supradan
0.6bar is low for a std supra with cats in so its possible you have a boost leak or the bov is passing boost
scottysupra
0.6bar is low for a std supra with cats in so its possible you have a boost leak or the bov is passing boost I thought i may have a boost leak but its just strange that the boost is staying on 0.6 bar with the cats in and with them out. Any ideas how i could check the bov is working correctly? Where is it mounted in the engine bay?
Supradan
Check all the pipework from and to the intercooler they sometimes pop off. The bov is on the left hand side of the engine about halfway back.It will have 2 20ish mm pipes and a small vac pipe coming from it.Its hard to diagnose faulty ones, best thing is to borrow one and try it. If your pipework is leaking or bov passing it is likely that .6bar is all its capable of holding before leaking,so increasing the boost by going bpu wont have any affect as all the extra boost is just leaking away. firin Supra
iv just had a similler problem with mine it was the vsv the one on top of the engine i checked it with a 12v power supply and it was working but when i cliked the valve open and blew down it wasnt letting enough air to pass threw so what i did was swop it off my aristo and now its working fine:D I would advise checking all the vsvs as this seems to be a commen proplem with sups:rolleyes:
