Steviekid
I've got a regular sky box at the moment and was hoping to get a sky+ one soon, but I've just found out that you need two coax cables coming from the dish to the box. I've recently redecorated my living room and ran all the cables etc behind the skirting and below the floor so it would be a major job to put in another one now. Will a Sky+ box work with the original single coax cable at the expense of losing the ability to watch and record different channels at once, or will it just not work at all? tooquicktostop
It wont work, I had the same issue a few months back when they came, had to rip the skirting off the wall !
Wez
Correct, you will only be able to watch what you are recording.

tooquicktostop
It should work for just one channel Maybe but then there is no point having sky + is there ?? The fitter would not install unless he had the double cable in place, it was a 15 minute job that turned into a weekend of fixing the mess after
Steviekid
Maybe but then there is no point having sky + is there ?? I just want it so I can pause live telly and record the odd few things when I'm not in and I'm not really bothered about the different channel thing. I thought I'd just be able to buy a box off ebay and plug it in?

Maybe that would be the best way, but I dont think you will get Sky to fit it officially ?, there must be a sky fitter on here somewhere
Wez
I purchased my sky+ box from someone on here and installed it myself, then called sky and asked them to enable sky+ which was free, within a couple of hours I was able to pause and record

Wez
I already had twin coax installed but the point I was trying make was that you dont need a sky engineer to come out

I didn't think I'd need someone to come out. Just need someone to confirm it'll work with one cable now.......
Tricky-Ricky
AFAIK you wont be able to use the live pause or record, as one input is dedicated to the record and live pause function.
