bens747
Have seen a few threads on here about this motion lotion. Why is it rated so highly against other manufactorers fuels and could someone explain why for me please ...
hadyn
because it has a higher octane rating of 98 RON. The higher the octane rating the less chance of detonation which is vital if you're running higher than stock boost. If you've got a jap import, optimax is the closest you'll get to the 100RON fuel they use in japan. You'll also get better performance/response from optimax and it has cleaning agents for your engine.. Just remember the higher the octane rating (RON) the better
bens747
Thanks for that mate. I only have a N/A but it is a J-Spec .... Will certainly try and get optimax in the future ......
hadyn
run it on optimax for a few tankfulls then return to piss water 95 ron or even super unleaded (97 ron) you should feel a bit of a difference
Scoboblio
Apparantly it also burns a lot cleaner than 'normal' (i.e., supermarket) petrol..... strip two high mileage engines, one running on optimax and one running on supermarket and you'll clearly see the difference.... allegedly. I always try and use optimax, the difference it's made to my other cars has been well worth it
terribleturner
I always try and use optimax, the difference it's made to my other cars has been well worth it Yeah, Same here. I only ever get normal petrol if im getting dangerously low. You can really feel a difference .
Jake
I only have a N/A but it is a J-SpecHi Ben, All NA Supras are Jspec. I run both my TT Supras on SUL(97RON) but usually not Optimax because there's no Shell stations en route of my daily commute. If I ran an NA I would more than happy to put SUL in it, whether it was Optimax or not. £0.
lightwave
Optimax is about 81.9p in Chandler's Ford. Love it.
JustGav
I've been using esso supreme which is cheaper than optimax...feels the same Gav
Dale B
I could be wrong here, but I seem to remeber reading that Optimax can be anything from 98 to 95 Ron, which is why Shell dont actually state the Ron figure on the pump. This is because the additive they put in dergrades over time so you could actually be payinf for 98 but adding 95 to your tank. Others (eg BP) actually sell 97ron and is stated on the pump. Im sure someone will correct me
martynb
Texaco SUL feels the same as well although it is rated 97 and not 98. Supposed to have whizzo cleaning agents also.
BigRoy
I dont notice any difference running opti over 97SUL, running 1.3BAR. Except the cost!
Steve W2
I've never felt the difference on any of the petrols I have used performance wise. Even on SUL. I do seem to get a bit better town mileage on BP Ultimate though. Will be driving my NA soon and won't using both normal petrol and SUL.
