Shell Optimax

because it has a higher octane rating of 98 RON. The higher the octane rating the less chance of detonation which is vital if you're running higher than stock boost. If you've got a jap import, optimax is the closest you'll get to the 100RON fuel they use in japan. You'll also get better performance/response from optimax and it has cleaning agents for your engine..

Just remember the higher the octane rating (RON) the better :)

Apparantly it also burns a lot cleaner than 'normal' (i.e., supermarket) petrol..... strip two high mileage engines, one running on optimax and one running on supermarket and you'll clearly see the difference.... allegedly.

I always try and use optimax, the difference it's made to my other cars has been well worth it

I only have a N/A but it is a J-Spec
Hi Ben,

All NA Supras are Jspec.

I run both my TT Supras on SUL(97RON) but usually not Optimax because there's no Shell stations en route of my daily commute. If I ran an NA I would more than happy to put SUL in it, whether it was Optimax or not.

I could be wrong here, but I seem to remeber reading that Optimax can be anything from 98 to 95 Ron, which is why Shell dont actually state the Ron figure on the pump. This is because the additive they put in dergrades over time so you could actually be payinf for 98 but adding 95 to your tank. Others (eg BP) actually sell 97ron and is stated on the pump. Im sure someone will correct me :innocent:
