MaRkYbOy72
My car has just failed the MOT and one reason was that all indicators are flashing too fast (apparently the requirement is no more than 120 times a minute) The MOT chap said its most probably the indicator relay. WHat do you guys think please?
wallace9
do they not usually flash quickly when the bulb is about to blow??

MaRkYbOy72
Would they all flash quickly if one bulb had blown? All the indicators work but I did have to get someone to reconnect a loose wire to the front facelift indicator that wasnt working. Also, the hazards flash at normal speed ... kieren1234
Yes it will definatelty be one of the indicator bulbs that has blown in that case. Go and check them all by putting the hazards on and find which one has blown.
MaRkYbOy72
Well I have just checked all the indicators and all are working fine in "hazard" mode. I took my car to an auto electrician on Monday and they found a loose wire on the front indicator that is the side that is flashing too fast. They fixed the wire and now the indicator at the front is working fine but just too fast! The other side indicators and hazzards are all flashing at normal speed. Help ... really confused
Digsy
Do you have any fancy LED bulbs in your indicators? They don't provide the proper electrical load and act the same as a blown bulb, making the indicators flash too fast.
MaRkYbOy72
Hmmmm ... not sure about that ... DO you think its worth buying some different indicator bulbs? Also, i have a big orange bulb and a small white bulb in each side. Is that right? I have the facelift indicators ...
R Black
Yes normally one section is for side lights one for indicator (you can see this below), if thats how yours has been wired.

If they are LEDs it will be pretty obvious. You can clearly see the filament in normal bulbs.
captainchaos
If you do have fancy bulbs (LED's) a resistor is all thats needed fitted into the wiring same as if your using smaller bulbs than standard.
