Energy Supplier Switching

Kopite

Recommended Posts

Right, been looking at getting away from NPower, switched gas to British Gas when they said no price hikes for 12 months (hmm liars). Looking at switching Electrical suppliers too, on USwitch, E-on and Scottish Power are showing savings over NPower. Anyone got any advice on experience regarding who's best? Cheers

If you plan to swap suppliers then do not rely on switching sites as their dat can be out of date.

I work in the energy market and the best way is for you to ring the companies on the site to see if it is accurate. One piece of advice when you call them is never ever give them your details, they only need your postal code and nothing else. As some companies will swap you over without your consent.

I had to laugh at that comment, you actually believed them or any other company for that matter? And I work for British Gas too. ;)

All energy suppliers will tell you anything to get you to sign, Southern Electric are the worst for the lies.

I hoped it'd be true but to be honest they couldn't have been any worse than N-power were, still paying less but not as much as I thought. It's the electricity which i'm looking at now, even though there's only 2 of us in the house and we're good at turning things off, don't leave anything not being used switched on, it still costs a bomb :(

Oh yeah and always make sure that you get the unit prices inc VAT.

Also if you pay by bill (as in every 1/4) make sure you get that unit price, as the favorite con is they will give you the DD price. so little trick is to get both prices.

Most companies operate a 2 tier tarriff system, you have to also find out what the cut over point is before you go to the cheaper tier.

Also you have to take in standing charges, this is a minimum of 4p per day for gas and a minimum of 11p per day for electric, this also varies from supplier to supplier on how much the subsadise the standing charge. If they fully subsadise it then you will pay the above prices, if not then the standing charge will be dearer.
