kieren1234
Hi all. I am currently wiring alot into the car and need to know where is the best placed to take a switched live from that is only live when the ignition is turned on. I have to wire in: 3 Guages - oil temp, oil pressure and boost = 4 lives Innovate lc-1 - 1 live Innovate xd-16 guage - 1 live I know there is the cig lighter but dont want to run 6 lives from just this point.... Any reccommendations/where did you get the power from ???

flukey-lukey
The stereo circuit runs off the same as the cig lighter doesn't it? So effectively you're taking it from the cig lighter anyway. I'm no auto electrician, is it safe to wire all those things into a circuit that only has a 15amp fuse?

Steve
How about off the ignition barrel, just fit an in-line fuse.
kieren1234
How about off the ignition barrel, just fit an in-line fuse. Good idea. May give it a shot tomorrow. My gauges are all wired in and always worked fine but today i have fitted an innovate lc-1 with xd-16 guage and the guage wasnt picking up a reading from the lc1 so thought it might not be getting enough power. It wasn't heating the sensor either when switching it on like it should.
flukey-lukey
^^^ Maybe a bad earth?
kieren1234
Well i did just read in the manual for the guage that it "should" be earthed at the same point where the lc-1 is earthed and mine was'nt. So will see if that is it (dont imagine it is though).
