rob wild
Anyone got one of these: http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/LAND+ROVER+DISCOVERY/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146,N-10-20-4294967074-4294967210/advert.action?R=200803108319537&distance=35&postcode=pr76fu&channel=CARS&make=LAND+ROVER&model=DISCOVERY&min_pr=2000&max_pr=6000&max_mileage= what are they like? Reliability wise? If i was going to get one i would get a 4.0 litre V8 but with LPG which round here is between 45-49p a litre which is very good. I've been searching and they seem to getting 16-20 to the gallon. Cheers Rob

dangerous brain
I'd be a bit suss about the mileage on it. Why LPG a motor then not do enough miles to pay for it? Especially at that age. Does it have the 7 seat option fitted? What type of LPG tank is it? Some of them can be so huge they take over the entire boot space and look very unsightly. ALl in all though looks a nice motor with a decent price tag. Genuine car??? Sounds a bit like a trader with that write up though.
edge
I sold my disco 2 V8 (non - lpg) which was a 7 seater ES fully loaded version for £4500 and was in very good condition and only about 70k on the clock with a stack of reciepts. http://www.lro.com is a good place to get some info. The V8 block is known to be porous but there is relativly cheap treatment called black magic available. They leak through the sunroofs - 2 of them.(but rubber seals can be had cheap off ebay but its a roof lining out job and a days works for 2 diy'ers. Unless alot has been spent on a decent lpg conversion expect it to catch fire - just goto a landrover breakers and see how many burnt out ones there are. If it has air suspension and has not been repaired already be prepared to have new air springs fitted and maybe a pump and controller but as it only has these on the rear the spring all round conversion works out cheaper. Body control units are a another weak point causing all sorts of issues, My front fogs on mine didnt work. Locking mechanisms also go wrong. My two rear side doors and back door had to have new locks fitted. They get through O2 sensors and this a regular replacement on lpg conversions. Approx £70 per side (2 of). Auto Gearbox's are quite strong and the low range system is normaly a pig to engage but should work. Aluminium body so you shouldn't see any rust. Tyre wear should be even and minimal. Just test everything and make sure it works. I'd reccomend a TD5 for the extra few £ as its easier to resell but not as cheap to run as lpg but you can have them chipped to improve performance.
