My pedal feel is never firm on the first tap of the brakes, if I tap the brakes, let off and then brake hard the pedal is nice and solid. Anyone else experience this? Its not just the first brake of the drive either, each time I brake the initial braking just seems a bit soft and the pedal travels much further, the car stills stops fine but just doesnt feel as good. If I do a quick tap and then brake the pedal travel is minimal and the brakes feel solid which gives much more confidence in braking ability Its like something isnt preasurised until the first tap on the brakes. My misses pug 206 does the same thing and I have come across a few cars that do it, just wondered if its normal or not. Mike B Posted December 30, 2007 Share Posted December 30, 2007 pad knock; mine did this; it had a tiny warp in the disk, when i had them skimmed the bite became instant again. know what you mean, it's annoying. jack the wheel up and apply the brakes, let them off and turn the whel, see if the brakes are catching anywhere on the disk. As Mike said, it's the pads being pushed back slightly further due to a disk being less than true. - This is one of the reasons for checking disk runout.
