paul mac
As my front crank oil seal has started to leak i allways like to treat these problems as "opportunities" to upgrade, and as the crank pulley is 15 years old and numerous have failed i thought i would look at possibly replacing it with a BL lightweight crank pulley, i've read all the theories on here about harmonics and damping but has anyone any real world experiences of these pulleys as the title says good, bad, neutral, and would fittment of one on an auto cause any issues, any views would be greatfully recieved
flukey-lukey
Mine broke and I bought a new stock pully to be on the safe side. I looked at the ebay specials and the like of BL pullys etc, but came to the conclusion that I couldn't go wrong with what was meant to be on there in the first place. Nic does a great price on the stock crank pully compared to over here in the UK
uzthedentist
I wouldnt get onbe that isnt dampener based as youll bugger your crank. The boostlogic one is dampened so should be fine, but ebay ones usually arent
jevansio
Is the Titan one also an option???? I know Michel fitted one to Martys car.
Daston
the boostlogic one I had on the SZ was fine. If the stock one goes on my RZ I will replace it with another Boostlogic one
Alex
From a perspective of engine longevity, you have 2 choices, Stock or stock. ANYTHING else is a compromise for the shelf life of the engine.
Paul Whiffin
Is the Titan one also an option???? I know Michel fitted one to Martys car. I have an ATi (Titan) one on my own car, had it for about 5 years now and it works a treat, never ever had a problem with it or the engines it has been fitted to. hadyn
Theres some good crank pulley stuff from mvp here: http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/Templates/frmTemplateM7.asp?SubFolderID=204&SearchYN=N If our oem pulleys die, will fitting the kind of items listed above cause any problems on relatively stock engines? Matt Harwood
I've had a BL one on my car since June 04. It's probably covered about 15k miles, with no problems that I'm aware of. The engine has certainly not been treated with kid gloves, and is quite being pushed when it does come out. The car is fitted with a T67, so its no slouch. However, I implicitly trust Digsy on here, and he did a write up some time back, about reasons why you shouldn't use one. If I was starting from scratch, I'm not sure I'd use one again.
