  1. Thanks for that Ash. You do know your stuff don't you Foggy
  2. Thanks for the suggestions. I agree about the water Adam, although I think I can rule out a jammed throttle cable Alex. With the bonnet open I could see the throttle mechanism moving while I pressed the pedal. I guess the traction control must be at the root of the problem, the only doubt in my mind is that I read on another thread some time ago that the motor was self sensing and I would have expected to see a warning light on the dash. Hope that now it's done it once it has got it out of its' system, because I can see it being a right PITA to track down as an intermittent problem. Foggy
  3. Thanks Phil, Left the car for half an hour while I waited for a lift to work, tried it again and it was fine. The only thing I could think of was the TC or water in the electrics. I'll get it checked out but if it happens again I'll follow your advice. Regards, Foggy
  4. It ticks over, but nothing else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Got in the car this morning, it started without any problems, pulled off the drive and realised that however hard I pushed the throttle it was still just ticking over. Managed to get back on the drive but I can't see anything obviously wrong, the throttle cable appears OK, no warning lights on the dash, nothing seems to have dropped off. It's a '98 manual VVti TT. Thanks. Foggy
  5. "Any" loss of traction, accelerating over an uneven surface or just a few loose chippings for example, seems to make the "skidding car" light flash and TRAC cut in, albeit not necessarily to any great extent. If you were throwing the car about I would expect the dashboard to be doing a fairly respectable impression of Blackpool Illuminations. Foggy
  6. Can't really add too much to what Nick has said. It can enter snow mode either pulling away from a standing start or whilst already moving. The operation of the TRAC appears to be progressive, sometimes I have seen the light flash and only noticed the slightest drop in power, other times the power drop is more dramatic. Hope this helps. Foggy
