  1. I'll give this a shot next weekend. We'll see if this is the issue. Thank you for the information.
  2. First of all, I'm posting for a friend. The car in question is a JDM 1995 N/A 5spd manual. The power steering pump was replaced shortly before he purchased the vehicle 2 months ago. The power steering was fine until a couple weeks ago. The issue is odd, I've spent the afternoon searching through quite a few of the supra forums looking for a post similar to his issue. I have come up with absolutely nothing. I have driven his car after he mentioned his steering was stiff. It's not just stiff, but feels like the ps isn't working at all while driving. Unlike the other problems with power steering on these vehicles, his problem is not based on vehicle speed. It's based solely on engine speed. For instance, at idle the steering is completely normal. Rolling at any vehicle speed in neutral or in gear with the clutch engaged while the engine is at idle, it's normal. If the engine speed is anything above idle, the steering is ridiculously stiff. So stiff, that it's difficult to turn into a parking spot. Driving through an autocross slalom is extremely difficult and you truly have to muscle the car through the course. The owner plans to race the car in autocross regularly, and also want to get into drifting once he gains more driving experience. Currently this power steering issue holding him back.
