Basically i was selling my car previously at this link. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=63240 A few says ago i rattly noise was comming from the engine which looks like its a broken piston Im in two minds now whether to just pop a new block in there and make a project of it or sell it as is. The fluid is fine, checked when both cold and warm, strange thing is the power steering isnt affected i.e. dosent feel heavier. Noise seems to be from one of pulleys of the fan belt?? unless its as you mentioned a PAS pipe in that sort of area

K basically when i start up from cold and turn the steering wheel a loud noise comes from the fan belt area, not the power steering pump as i initially thought. I know they are somehow related as the noise increases with revs. It stays for about 5 minutes then goes away. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks Darren. Its sounds the same altohugh it takes a good 10 minutes or so before the noise goes away. Then its fine for rest of day. Maybe i should try changing power steering fluid or something.

Yet another prob croped up. When i first get in the car and turn the wheel the pwer steering makes a racket and also affects the revs and boost gauge hmmm??? I know the noise thing is common on some jap cars just wondered if it was the same with the Sup. It is loud by way everyone walking by looks! and this time not cos of my congeital malformations!

Sorry couldnt reply earlier, computer problems. Anyhow, i had thought of taking backbox off but i think thats where problem (problem being not enough noise!) lies so cant really be bothered. Getting custom exhaust fitted Sat. By the by anyone know anyone good who does custom exhausts in the midlands area??

ok, if anyone can help. Got an import with a HKS legal muffler cat back system on. Bit too quiet for me so i took both the cats out. There was no change in noise or boost pressure. Is it just the back box keeping it quiet? If i changed it to say a hyper back box, would i get that throaty noise i hear on so many supras cos so far its just not happening for me and its startinh to get on my nerves:flame Dev Cheers for any help!

My scoob did this-its the BOV-mine did it cos it was the forge DV with the light spring. Gets annoying on motorway! Took it off cos some people started comenting on messing up the air/fuel ratios etc.

People always panic when this sort of stuff happens top and bottom is a £10 worth is not going to do any damage. If your that bothered however buy an octane booster and then fill the rest of the tank up with optimax.
