  1. May have just done a turbo seal if you were on it so much? Sounds like a good night though lol
  2. Thanks, seems prices are all over the place, I'd like a stockish auto TT but will see what is around. I'm in no rush as I can't drive at the mo with my back but will be doing plenty of research in the meantime.
  3. Been a lurker for a long time, almost bought a supra about 10years ago but in the end I went for an FD instead. Been hooked on rotaries since but always had a soft spot for a relatively stock MKIV. Long story short I'm on my second FD single turbo project, also have an old bug that should run 12's and my daily is a 350z. I tore a disc in my back a month ago so my wife mentioned I should get a more comfortable auto for a daily, I can't think of a more sensible auto daily than a supra lol, so that's why I'm finally posting
  4. Thanks for all the advice, to be honest i'm not THAT bothered whether the car in NA or TT, or a manual or auto, i have my bug for being silly. The Supra is going to be used daily so will not be straying too far from stock mechanically and lets face it no Supra could be described as slow... The car is replacing is an Ibiza 1.2 so any Supra will be CONSIDERABLY quicker!
  5. But yes you're right, although i haven't seen much action against porsches... BMW's, Impreza's & Evo's have all fallen victim to the innocent little blue bug.
  6. Well it's off the road for now, had a few fuelling problems so i tucked it up in the garage... Once i get a Supra sorted, next thing on my list is a turbo for the bug. Something like this... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4656598677422091483&q=beetle
  7. I bet the Auto is nice, 3 long gears, perfect smooth turbo fun! But I'm a sucker for sticking it through the gears... I dunno just need to drive an auto i guess.
  8. Also my current daily car is a 1.2 Seat Ibiza... So I have both ends of the spectrum I also have a track only Bug (in a million pieces) but that ran an 11.09 with its previous owner... It has a big blue bottle strapped in the back though ANYWAY lets talk Supra
  9. Believe me most things feel slow compared to that, mainly because its so loud and harsh (solid mounted engine and box) It's not exactly a daily car though... Hence i want something quick but not as raw, Supra fits the bill perfectly
  10. Yeah dont get me wrong, i just havent driven an auto supra yet
  11. Add that to a close ratio box in a pretty light car with the engine over the rear wheels (LOADS OF TRACTION) and hey you have a quick car
  12. Mines a 2276, fully dynamically balaced EVERYTHING is chromolly crank, rods etc.. Full race cam, DRLA 48s, CNC ported heads putting out around 220hp (high compression [10.4:1] on optimax)
  13. lol ok ok had a feeling this might happen VW's can be VERY quick, not got any video's of mine but I do have one of Paul's car who supplied and built my motor. His has the same spec but also has a turbo. He is fully street legal, runs high nines and can on occasion be seen pottering around Chorlton... for the non believers .... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/vwspeedshop/9.95.avi right click and save as
  14. Just spotted that black Veilside kitted import in the sale section that'd do fine...
  15. Sounds good and goes better, 13.2 on the 1/4
  16. To be honest the UK thing doesnt matter as much anymore, i just got a quote from Sky Insurance for an import, there's virtually no difference in cost... I do fancy a manual, but then i haven't driven an auto supra yet...

    Hi I'm new

Hi I'm new my names Matt, I'm into fast old Beetles but am looking at a Supra for my daily drive I'm 24 and can't believe how cheap the quotes have been for a stock UK TT, cheapest I've had is £897 which seems REALLY good given my current daily car (Group 2 insurance) is costing me £700! I've seen a few supras at garages and to be honest a lot of them have been a little rough. Ideally I'd be looking at something with a few modifications, styling mainly (wheels, suspension, possibly Veilside kit) which I havent looked for a quote on yet. My budget is around £9k including insurance... I've had a read of the Supra Guides etc I have a pretty good automotive knowledge but am a little nervous about buying a car like this as I'm fully aware a bad one can cost a fortune to put right. I'd be looking to buy in the next month or so as soon as i sell my current car. Anyway just thought I'd say hi Here's one of my Beetles for anyone who's interested...
