  1. Yeah it ran on 5 litres for a short while without realizing. Considering fixing it myself, does anyone know if the engine has to be raised a little to get the oil pan out?
  2. Yep, bottom end bearing it is. Listen, then listen to mine at the top. Identical.
  3. Part of me thinks the tapping is a bit too fast for it to be a valve, what external parts could tap like this?
  4. Yeah I did, still makes the same knocking noise, nothing seem out of the ordinary.
  5. The cone was just put on to test the engine, it normally goes right down into the front, and the wires are all over the shop as i've just quickly put everything together. The issue is the knocking!
  6. 1994 JAZ80 non turbo - Jap import hey fellas, Was hoping to get a little insight into a new problem I have with with my supra. Something has broken in the head of the engine, It started off with a little tap that I didn't think much of and now a couple of days ago it suddenly developed into a really loud clapping sound. I think one of the exhaust valves has broken as the sound is coming from that area. I've had the rocker covers off and inspected the cams, they seem ok no damage to the lobes. Also what I can see of the cam followers underneath all seems in order. The engine runs and starts fine, its on all 6 cylinders and apart from the clapping sound it runs smooth no vibrations, so I'm not suspecting failure of heavier bottom end components.(Not yet) The only work done on the car recently was new spark plugs, which ran great until it went bust. Next thing to do is strip the head off and look at the valves and piston faces. I thought I'd upload the video I took today to get some insight as I'm sure you fellas have come across this before.! Any help or suggestions are appreciated guys. -Nicko [video=youtube;p2hfx-2Bo1U]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2hfx-2Bo1U&feature=youtu.be
  7. Have done mate, after i cleaned the oil out of the spark plug well its in nice an tight and the HT nice an tight too, still no joy
  8. Hey Guys, Me an my brother removed the rocker cover due to oil seeping out the back and down the back of the engine, replaced the gasket (used gasket sealer) and put it all back together, the engine is now ticking and the ticking gets quicker as the revs build and also its miss firing on number 6. Ive changed the spark plug, changed the HT lead and its still doing it, this might sound strange but when the car is running if you put your fingers on the HT lead it feels like its trying to push back out and also a small pulse. Anyone have any idea's where i need to go from here?? Cheers Nicko

  13. Hi guys, As im sure you all know im not a supra wizz like some people here, so i need a bit of help. I have a 1994 jap supra N/A. first issue is the car is idling at 2k warm/cold doesnt change it. 2nd issue the speedo doesnt work first thing in the morning and the steering gets heavy and then the car stalls when i come to a stop. 3rd issue theres no lights on my speedo, rpm etc. 4th issue the steering (when working) is making a wining noise(ive check fluid and pump etc all seems well) last but not least 5th issue there is a terrible knocking sound at the arse end when driving, ive been under had the wheels off and everything loooks fine, If anyone has any idea's for me please share ive racked my brains out about all of theses!! Cheers
  14. Cheers for all the advice guys, Old spark plugs are back in and new HT leads on as one of them was ripped somehow lol cars running a million times better and the weird noise at high rpm has also stopped, must of been a bit of crap in there when i was fiddling around. Robzki mine also had a dodgy idle (even if its an N/A ) ht leads have sorted that and listy checked all the fuel lines and some need replacing they look worn an tired and cracked. Cheers Guys!
  15. Haha its had all bits you can get from a chemist, but yeh its a 1994 n/a auto, Ordered spark plugs from ebay (bad idea) fitted them without checking (even worse idea) and it sounded like a bag of spanners misfiring everywhere lol Changed the spark plugs for the old ones again and its not as bad but still making the fart noise over 3500 revs, Listy how did you sort your over fuelling issue??
  16. Hi Guys, when the engines hit more than 3500 revs its making a burping sound on the arse end, Ive just changed the ht leads and its still doing it, checked spark plugs and dizzy cap an its still doing it and now im stumped?! Anyone have any ideas?? Cheers Nicko
  17. Just leave it in O/D i havent really noticed a difference in petrol usage but as someone keeps saying i keep mine at 120 all the time
