1994 JAZ80 non turbo - Jap import
hey fellas,
Was hoping to get a little insight into a new problem I have with with my supra. Something has broken in the head of the engine, It started off with a little tap that I didn't think much of and now a couple of days ago it suddenly developed into a really loud clapping sound. I think one of the exhaust valves has broken as the sound is coming from that area. I've had the rocker covers off and inspected the cams, they seem ok no damage to the lobes. Also what I can see of the cam followers underneath all seems in order.
The engine runs and starts fine, its on all 6 cylinders and apart from the clapping sound it runs smooth no vibrations, so I'm not suspecting failure of heavier bottom end components.(Not yet) The only work done on the car recently was new spark plugs, which ran great until it went bust.
Next thing to do is strip the head off and look at the valves and piston faces. I thought I'd upload the video I took today to get some insight as I'm sure you fellas have come across this before.!
Any help or suggestions are appreciated guys. -Nicko
