Taylor
I have a polished rim on my wheel and i want to paint the whole wheel. How do i prepare the polished area for painting....i dont wont all my paint to come off!!
merckx
I would key the whole wheel with wet and dry, then acid etch primer followed by a high build primer .
Stonkin
Good luck Taylor! is this mine or yours?
colsoop
I personally would start from scratch. If the rims have damage they will need some metal filler. You will also get the best possible finish that way.
Taylor
YES THERE YOURS!! how do you mean start from scratch?
colsoop
Well do they have paint on them already ? and they have kerb marks dont they ? So take it back down to bare metal, fill in the kerb marks. Then do the painting stage. Primer, paint, clear, etc. Just my thoughts, i am sure merckx' way is probably easier and less time consuming. Taylor
no the actual rim (lip if you like) does not have paint on. only the spokes etc have paint on them. but the polished area is a bit shabby looking
