JohnK
GF has just had her MR2 serviced and they said they the engine stay was worn and is an MOT failure. Can anyone tell me what an engine stay is and what maybe needs doing to it? Thanks
LeeT
im no expert here but the bonnet stays on an mr2 are gas struts IIRC, the same as what holds your boot up when you open it. HTH
JohnK
Its not that, on her UK car she has just a bar to prop up the lid like on the supe.
LeeT
must be engine mount then
geoffvalenti
Its certainly got nothing to do with the engine cover Probably a steady bar that runs in a front to back direction and attaches to the (transversely mounted) engine to stop it rocking back and forth. I'm still not sure that it would be an MoT failure, but there are others on here (Dude?) that could give you a definitive answer on that.
