Rayman
What are them blue camera's on the side of dual carriageways? Has anyone seen them? Well my local dual carriageway has them anyway, only just recently installed tho, they are basically like blue cctv cameras, exact same size but on a blue pole, 2 on each pole facing different ways? Its on the east lancs road ive seen them, anyone know what they are?

tbourner
Yeah they're just for monitoring the roads, don't detect speed or plates or anything.

Havard
sounds like a traffic master to me, you'll find em on country roads quite often.. What do they do then? I take it it's just CCTV? H.
Rob
I recently heard a policeman dispel the myth that all the Trafficmaster cams can work as Specs if the Govt. pass a bill, therefore a countrywide specs network was already in place. It was a compelling myth, I certainly believed in it, but he said that the TM cameras measure speed just by infra red so they get an average speed of all the traffic passing each site, thus triggering the network warnings when it drops to a crawl. Snooze
Yeah - they sound like traffic cameras. They're the ones that they use when they show those black & white, grainy pictures of traffic jams on the travel news, aren't they?

No, those images come from the little CCTV ones usually high up on columns above junctions.

ivan
TrafficMaster for sure. You can buy TrafficMaster receivers that warn you of snarlups ahead. I've got one - haven't used it for years.
