SupraGirlie
just made a batch, now just waiting for it to cool Did you use the recipe above? If so, how did you measure out a 'cup' and a 'quart' lol
bmx1lew
i used 6 large eggs, plus 2 yolks 3 tablespoons sugar 4 cups whole milk 3 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg 1/4 cup double cream nutmeg for garnish tastes like custard lol
DrivingTheDream
Is it meant to taste like custard? Always wondered about this stuff but dont like eggs-With egg in the title it kinda puts me off, can you taste em in it?
SupraGirlie
i used 6 large eggs, plus 2 yolks 3 tablespoons sugar 4 cups whole milk 3 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg 1/4 cup double cream nutmeg for garnish tastes like custard lol Yes but how much is a 'cup', I was actually wanting to make something the other day which used 'cups' in the recipe so I googled it and found this... By definition, a British/Imperial cup is bigger than an Australian cup, which in turn is bigger than an American cup, even though British and American cups are both ½ pint size. So then I gave up! bmx1lew
what i call a cup is what people call a mug, ie starbucks grande size cup is equal to what i would and others class as a cup, however for food, i class a cup as a small cup, like a tea party cup, just over half a mug. tooquicktostop
This may help with the recipe I posted Cup is an American measure Equivalent Measures 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon 4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup 5 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon = 1/3 cup 8 tablespoons = 1/2 cup 12 tablespoons = 3/4 cup 16 tablespoons = 1 cup (8 ounces) 2 cups = 1 pint (16 ounces) 4 cups (2 pints) = 1 quart (32 ounces) 8 cups (4 pints) = 1/2 gallon (64 ounces) 4 quarts = 1 gallon (128 ounces)
