scottysupra
The last week my supra has been struggling to start. When i turn the key it just clicks and i have to turn it on and off a couple of times before the engine cranks over and it starts. I think its definetly the starter motor but wanted to see if anyone else has had the same problem??? If it is the starter motor where is the best place to get one? And how much are they normally? Thanks in advance. P.s Its a new battery and it does start eventually.
snake
if the battery is 100 % then its the starter go to the search section above and it will tell you all about it. i got one 2nd hand for about £60.
Scoboblio
It could be the starter contacts which can be replaced / refurbished, details are in the FAQ.
georigg
Scotty, Before you go stripping starters, check that the battery terminals are tight, check that the cable lugs at the starter are tight. Slack/loose connections can add enough resistance to the circuit to prevent the starter turning. If your car eventually starts, then it could be that the slack connection has "burnt" a good enough and low enough resistance path to allow starting current to flow. hoff
I've been having the same problem. But not everytime I go to start the car. I was told it was the starter motor. I picked one up from Ibrar on here. Its not fitted yet, it will be next week. If it solves the problem and you're still having yours then I'll let you know. andygood
Hi folx! I've been having this problem on & off for the last eight months or so. I turn the key & there's a click but nothing else. After a few tries it would eventually turn over and start. A couple of months ago I took it to Toyota who said it was the ignition contacts. Straight after that it stopped turning over altogether, so I got the part and fitted it, but it's still 'All Click and No Vroom'... Haven't had time to chase the problem since and I'm suffering from Supra withdrawal at this stage... ;-) Hoff, will you let us know if the new starter motor sorts it out for you?! Rgds, Andy. jamesmark
Have you all double checked the battery, I thought it was starter motor with mine. I lined up the Omega with the Supra and connected the terminals in the supra (take the battery out) to a set of jump leads on the Omega and the Supra turned over straight away. Before this I would just get clicking a few times then started then eventually just clicking. I personally would try this first before going down the exspensive starter motor route.
