Ewen
Army employed. Ah, in that case I've no idea. Other than checking your tax code is correct for the years you think you've paid the wrong tax, then asking for a Tax Return form for those years and doing it that way. Ewen
If you are really worried about it Steveo, talk to the inland revenue....sometimes filling in a previous tax return or two is the only way of getting to the bottom of it. It could be as simple as your allowances changing from one year to another, or as complicated as a correction this year for over-payment last / previous years (this is tricky as to make sure you are now being taxed correctly, you have to inform the IR whether your tax code / allowances are correct youself...hence the returns being a good way of clarifying things). Any rebates due dont usually have a time scale AFAIK, you should be ok for rebates going back at least five years, or as long as they keep your records on file. dangerous brain
Don't forget you can claim tax back against all the duty travel claims you have ever made. They pay you 12p a mile or something crap like that and you are entitled tax relief of about 50 odd pence in the mile so you can claim that back.
