CJ
A stunningly attractive friend of mine (hence me doing this ) is looking to buy a new laptop. She has a budget of £500 and has seen a Compaq in Currys (I am assuming one of these) at £499. She does not want it for games, just general office use and net surfing etc. Can anyone recommend a better machine at the same money? Links would be handy too
edd_t
http://www.insight.com much better deals especially for Compaq and HP
Scott
If the laptop is only for general office work and internet browsing i would advise her to save some money and budget for around £300. There is a toshiba laptop in Macro just now for £230 + VAT. There are quite a few in PCworld being advertised just now at £299 too. Thats what i would suggest anyway. CJ
http://www.insight.com much better deals especially for Compaq and HP Sorry to be a numpty but as these are all based in the USA, wouldn't there be problems with shipping, import duty and more importantly, a different voltage requirement? Nat.Wright
Change the location to UK (top right of screen). Also make sure it is public sector if she isn't buying as part of a business. I'd recommend checking out the weekly deals too... http://uk.insight.com/apps/weeklydeals/index.php

Scott
They aren't cheap at all. The toshiba one in there for over £500 is the same as the one in Macro for £230 +Vat. Granted if it breaks they will give you your money back and fix the laptop but your paying double anyway. Scott =op
