tbourner
Not sure if this is a repost: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=450931&in_page_id=1770&ct=5 "In 2003, he called for the number of speed cameras to be trebled. The chief constable was accused of having warped priorities when figures revealed that his force had solved only 6 per cent of burglaries in a month. In the same period, his officers solved only 41 of 693 vehicle crimes yet issued 4,200 speeding tickets. The following year he admitted ordering officers to "hide behind road signs and walls" with handheld devices to catch speeding drivers. " What a plick. Havard
The man is quite clearly a penis!! I read a big article on him yesterday and can't understand why he is still in a job. It's because of people like him that the attitude towards the Police is at an all time low IMO!! H.

garethr
He used to be the road policing representative for the Association of Chief Police Officers, didn't he? His replacement in the ACPO post is Meredydd Hughes from South Yorkshire, who has just been done for speeding for the third time (90 in a 60) by...... North Wales police! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article407197.ece It was Hughes who came up with the idea of appointing an expensive team to prosecute contested speeding cases, so that if the defendants lost they'd be hit with huge costs http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5340846.stm ACPO is also introducing a team made up of a lawyer and a former police officer to help prosecute speed camera cases. The association hopes motorists will avoid contesting their speeding charge because if they lose, their costs will include up to £4,000 for the cost of the team. Police say they will be keeping a close eye on drivers who they think have been wrongly acquitted of crimes. Not forgetting http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...npolice111.xml Official: Police leave 2m crimes uninvestigated Do you know if anyone has worked out why there's an increasing lack of respect for the police?
