DaveM
I have a J-Spec TT auto which currenty has an uprated fuel pump, FSE Power Boost Valve and an Apexi SAFC II. I have also fitted a new SMIC and radiator to the car during the summer. The car is approaching 75k miles, I have had it almost 5 years now and I use it everyday. I want to improve the performance a little without going as far as single turbo conversations or having hybrids fitted. The first thing on my list is to replace the FSE valve however while I am having this done I was considering fhaving larger injectors fitted (I am currently still running the std 440cc injectors). If I was to do this, would I be able to control the larger injectors using the SAFC II or would I need to invest in something like E-Manage? Thorin
You could control them with the SAFCII... I just can't see why you'd want to fit larger injectors on stock turbos? You're just lining up problems for yourself, why not just fit them when/if you upgrade to single? ...but yes ditch the FSE by all means. edit: your sig already suggests you have an uprated ECU, what is it? DaveM
The uprated ECU is just a Mines ECU. When I first had the power boost valve, fuel pump and SAFC II fitted and had also purchased TRL FCD to have fitted. When I collected the car they gave the FCD back to me saying that I didn't need it as I already had an uprated ECU. On further investigation since then I have found the ECU with the Mines plaque on the cover.
RobSheffield
power boost valve Nooooooooooooo
Soonto_HAS_soop
I wouldn't consider putting an emanage on the Mines ECU as it will be a percentage of a percentage fudge. If you want an emanage, and I had one on my stock twins - made a big difference and allowed finer tuning of the transition between tubby 1 and tubby 2, I would sell the mines for a standard ECU and then emanage that. If you're considering bigger power later, it is a modification that can be done now to save money later with benefits to your current setup. First things though, ditch the FSE it is generally considered to be pants. I also had one, many moons ago, and the housing cracked during a run, which subsequently started pissing petrol all over my engine bay, luckily I caught it before the engine bay went up.... Nic
Dave, if I was you, I'd ditch the SAFC and FSE, keep the stock 440cc injectors, fit an emanage ultimate, fuel pressure regulator and get it mapped by Ian C.
Thorin
I personally would just save money until you're fitting a single, why pay to get it all fitted and mapped and then have to have it all mapped again once you go single?
DaveM
Don't worry, the power boost valve is going soon (I've had a few problems with it in the past as well). I plan on going back to the OEM fuel regulator. It doesn't sound as if there is much to gain at this stage in going to bigger injectors (I don't intend to go single) and the cost of the e-manage seems quite high for the benefits that I would gain with a standard set up. Thanks for your advice on this guys, I think it has helped me make a decision.
Homer
Wierd, I thought I'd replied to this thread Anyway, I wanted to ask what boost level you're currently running at?
colsoop
You could offset the cost of the emanage by selling your mines ecu for cash + a stock ecu in exchange.
Tricky-Ricky
I really can't see why you would want to get rid of the Mines ECU?? it is obviously already optimised for the set up your car is running, probably a lot better than anyone could map an emanage to! if you have no plans to change turbos, you have no need for bigger injectors, FPR or the SAFC for that matter, make yourself some money and sell it.
