colsoop
I have a vision of Emigrating to Australia to start a new life in the next few years. I was wondering if anyone has attempted this or is considering this at the moment ? Would a chimp like me stand any chance of getting enough points to qualify. I am not a skilled worker but will have a reasonable amount of savings and a pension. I also have family in that part of the world (Tasmania) I am prepared to do any job that there is a demand for, just for a better quality of life. So what are my chances, i give myself slim to none
Ric
you can fill in the online "tests" if you like, to see if you have the skills and points required to move over there. Search google for austrialian visa acceptance check. Once you have been accepted for that, you can proceed with the visa application, it isnt that cheap, around £1200 for a permanent visa. Im going through the same process but im thinking to go for the working holiday visa which is valid for a year, too see if i like it and its loads cheaper
DaveK
I haven't done it - but my friends sister-in-law went out there 7 years ago. She didn't have any particular qualifications I don't think - she worked in HR. While she was there, she did do counselling qualifications and actually became a proper resident - she now has an Australian passport. She moved back here this year. So - unless it's changed in the last 7 years, it doesn't see so hard to get into as many countries.

Ric
yeah you have more chance of been accepted for a full visa then, plus it makes it a little cheaper i think
spidermonkey
I though it had been made easier to get into Australia recently.

jim_supra
This is something I am looking into also, I didn't think I would be able to get enough points on the quiz as I have no qulaifications (well none that matter anyway) but If they have lowered the points needed I will take the test. stupra
I was talking to Mark at Phoenix about this yesterday as it's something he's trying to do, he's been waiting a long time to get everything sorted out, and he and his wife both have trade's. I wouldn't mind doing the same thing really, it seems alot better over there, they don't just let anyone in the country like they do here. Their PM also has some ball's. Andy-No-Knee
I thought I had done it the easy way.... marry an Aussie, but I must have found the only one who never wants to go back! Still, she is half 'Merican as well so maybe we will head there soon.......
Kieran
I applied to work for a company in Sydney last year as a signalling electrician on the railway. After loads of conversations on the phone, got round to the phone interview and was going through all my railway qualifications and my education qualifications (which were way better than were needed for the job) when they said that they wouldn't recognise my HNC in electrical engineering and that I needed a City & Guilds instead! So instead of sitting perving over the ladies on Bondi Beach, I'm still here.
creative
going through this at the mo for the missus.....and im australian... so I can come and go as I please! go to the Australian immigration website and follow the parts you need. ( the site was put together by chimps as its awful to navigate!) It is 120 points now and they can be easy to get if you have the skills and qualifications. Another way is to apply for jobs out there and get employers sponsorship. There are a ton of forms to fill out, you will need a medical including full x-rays, police check, witness statements, oh and about £2.5k for the actual visa. My mate is also looking into it using an agency. thats costing him £3.4k all in but he has a skilled job so wont have any problems getting in. R Black
A guy at work emmigrated there a few years back, his wife was austrailian, anyhow he sold his house in chingford, he now has a 3 bedroom detatched with pool etc etc, paid for, and his wife does'nt have to work anymore. I know a few others gonna follow his lead from work, i don't think Aus is that hard to get into.
