Wazz72
Got a dash that has been sprayed in car paint and laquered, not a very good job. Just wondering the best way to remove /prepp it for respraying. Dont suggest a blowtorch as ive tried that before...
Guigsy
just sand it all down. your going to have to sand it down to prep it anyway
Homer
Yep, sand it down is your best bet provided it's not got any issues below the current paint level (deep scratches, etc) If the original plastic coating had not been removed before the last paint you may well have problems. Either it has to be scraped off or you can use a chemical thinner like varnish remover to melt it away - be careful if you do this though! I have one panel to do this weekend and am not looking forward to it!
Wazz72
Done a full set last year to put stick on facia on, used isoprol and a credic card, bloody horrible job that lasted for hours. Worth it in the end though. The paint job thats on this is pitted to f*&k on some of the pannels so im gunna redoo the lot, also thinking about using the dremel to cut out where the clock is and replace it with my greddy e-01 unit. Homer
also thinking about using the dremel to cut out where the clock is and replace it with my greddy e-01 unit. It works but is a tight fit. I measured up once and it does just about make it, but leaves parts of the dash very thin (liable to breakage) - be careful I went Blitz SBC-IDIII in the end as it's nice and compact and fits into quite a few areas on the dash without any mods
