Rollin_Thunder
which ones & is it worth it? im just looking for a bit more power from my n/a so just doing the very simplest of things, i have already de catted on pipe & got a 2.5" straight through system with a nice 5" back box & HKS mushroom filter but thats it.... i have noticed its more responsive now but still a bit slow in pick up so just wondering if decent plugs & leads will help? i don't want to go that mental as im saving for a full respray but unsure on the color at the moment im thinking a dark blue (like my old calibra was midnight blue i think) with a metallic candy red pearl in & i also know that i have only got a n/a so unless i spend mega bucks on it or get a TT then im not going to get any huge power gains... Ric
theres no such thing, replacement leads will only restore the lost power of old knackered leads. Performance leads like magnacore or somthing wont give you any gains, just restore lost power just get some new stock ones if you are really that bothered
Rollin_Thunder
hmmm ok might pick up some of them mag leads but what about spark plugs?

JODY T
Unless your existing plugs and leads are shot, you will not 'Get' more power from these... THe NA engine is hard to get power out off... Have you ever got your set up optimised? Say on a Rolling Road. to get the best of what you already have
Kranz
Magnecor leads won't get you any more *unless* you have such a high power ignition system, cold plugs, large plug gaps and high compression (or high boost for turbo engines) that the easiest way for a spark to go to earth is through the side of the plug wire. Unlikely in most circumstances! They will, however, last for ever Compared to the cost of std plug wires, they're not worth it IMHO
Chris Wilson
If different leads or plugs would give more efficiency or power don't you think Toyota would have fitted them? On an N/A you have done all you can without spending a lot on a mappable ecu, getting cams custom ground, throttle bodies, raised compression, a lot more revs, blah blah. Fitting the stock air box and paper element will restore the power the HKS air "filter" will have lost, BTW
Rollin_Thunder
again my limited knowledge of cars lets me down jody were you "hinting" with your post lol yes i thought as much im not prepared & i don't have that kind of money to spend on those ideas that you said K14 SUP & tbh it wouldn't be worth it im just a tight ass & was just trying to do things simply but it seems there is no cheap, simple or easy way.. im not sure i think plug might be dead as she don't idle nicely at times, rev's dip pretty badly & theres a very slight miss. im not so sure with the stock filter as now i have new exhaust system & filter i have noticed a much more responsive pick up time im just waiting on some more money & time to have a heat shield made up to keep it cooler & run a better cold air intake system to the filter (just need to sell that xbox 360 thats "hint hint") thanx for all the info anyway guys
Animal
im not so sure with the stock filter as now i have new exhaust system & filter i have noticed a much more responsive pick up time You may have noticed better pick-up with the exhaust, but trust us - bin that filter, it's only going to cause damage in the long run. I went back to stock and the difference was VERY noticeable over the 'filter' that was on it before.

Dazzi
lets in more dirt than a stock filter does
Rollin_Thunder
damnit back to stock then i go lucky i paid £40 for it, but was going to have all the piping system replaced as well & a shield made up at some stage..
Sean1933
Bin the HKS filter + get some fresh plugs in there...then assess if you need to replace your leads for new OEM. Dont waste your money if you dont need to mate
Nic
If you must buy new leads buy a brand new set of OEM ones, £79 including postage for the lot.
