Whitesupraboy2
Tip There is a thread with a great tip. Along lines of pull the fuel pump fuse and run thje car which burns all the fuel in pipes. Hence no fuel everywhere...nice and clean to do then.... But do a search for it first just so im 100% right. JohnA
But do you *really* want to run the pump afterwards with everything bone dry? Some spillage won't hurt, just avoid smoking in the vicinity:D

Some spillage won't hurt, just avoid smoking in the vicinity:D You wont be running the pump 100% dry as such will you as the car will conk out with a little fuel in the lines. It doesnt do any damage running out of fuel when driving, its the gunk that gets you in the tank *prepares to be educated * I understand shouldnt be a regular occurance obviously! JohnA
Fuel is the pump's lubricant, keeping the seals from damaging themselves through friction. Running it dry is not something I would consider to prolong the pump's life, especially if it is already a bit old in the tooth
