georigg
See my earlier posts, I had a knocking noise off front and back, as variously described on other posts, coupled with very hard suspension, such that even on relatively smooth roads my CD-changer tended to go to "error" going over any bumps on the road. I have just changed out both front and back shocks and the car is "smooth" again, and using the "CD-Test", I do not have any track jumping or error messages. Shocks bought from Proven Products at £62 each...KYB, UK spec......see my previous posts for contact info. If you follow the maintenance manuals, they would have you removing the front suspension to change the fronts, if not, at least breaking a couple of the ball-jointed items on the suspension. Good spring compressors, a long(circa 60") pry bar and both sides of the front on axle stands so that the roll bar is "pushing" the suspension down, and its no great problem. The Supra is so stiff, that jacking up one side only will lift the other side off the ground, but I do not believe in straining/stressing the body this way, and recommend you lift both sides on to axle stands and use a good hydraulic jack for the lifting etc.. The fronts took about an hour to replace a side, but the backs are very easy......about 20 minutes a side. Although you can do this job on your own, I recommend having someone else there to help, you need an extra pair of hands for some parts of the job, especially pressing down on the suspension to get the bottom shock bolt in place. Recommend changing the shocks to anyone suffering from the "knocks" off the suspension. Rgds George
