Pete
I imagine that the insurance companies will say something along the lines of if you don't pay for this then your insurance is void.
JohnK
Free ride for thieves, odds of getting caught just doubled.

SMiFFAD
*edit* i see its only after theyve found your car anyway, and the chances of them finding anything from fingerprinting the car is unlikely, so just dont pay it and be happy you got your car back! Sharpie
Do we get a cut in council tax then ?
JustGav
Since we have to pay for that service, does that mean there will be free-enterprise... I know I would pay £105 to a bunch of goons to make 'enquiries' if the car was nicked...
Pete
Or another thought...alternatively use the money as bribes in local scum pubs to find out who did it and pay someone else to break all their fingers.
Kranz
This fee covers the cost of recovery of the vehicle to a secure compound run by an independant recovery company. The vehicle crime examiner will then look at it there. The owner's insurance company should cover the cost. If the owner chooses to recover it themselves then there will be no forensic continuity, so anything that is found wouldn't be admissible in court. Any vehicle removed by Police can incurr this cost, including vehicles obstructing the highway, section 59 siezures and RTC's. I'll not comment on how I feel about charging the victim of a crime though
ivan
No point in getting the police to act on a stolen car incident in any case. Waste of time as nothing will happen even if they do find the scallies. Once they've found it, just say that you'll pick it up yourself and don't pay the £105.
