Strange electrical fault !

Recommended Posts

Had the car for a aboyut three months now, all good.

No changes except for Clifford 650 & new dials about a months ago.

Two weeks ago I noticed the radio occassionally went off when I indicated, although it came back on straight away !

Last week it started to go off sometimes when I braked !!

Last night:

Came home from training in the dark and:

Radio was going off when braking - also, lights dimmed to half power on braking but then came back on fine.

This happened many times but not every time I braked !!!

Suspect (although I know next to nothing) that the battery is not charging correctly and the headlights dimed when the brake lights lit up ?

Any thoughts.....

Cheers

G

Sounds very much like a loose wire or a wire that is rubbing against something it shouldn't...

Is it an aftermarket headunit or standard? The fact that it happens when you break and shift weight around the car really pushes me towards a wire trapped or loose connector.

Assumption here, that you haven't blown any fuses, means it could be a loose earth somewhere...

Forgot to mention, I drove for about 40 minutes in the dark, so I think this must mean that the car is charging sometimes ?

And it started fine this morning ??
