SteveR
I'm 'listening again' to Judge Jules show from Saturday night, as I caught some of it live and picked up on a few tracks I really liked. This sort of stuff rarely makes it to the charts, so isn't available from the likes of HMV, so where can I buy it?!? I know big radio shows will probably have stuff as it's just emerging - or even several weeks/months before it's available - so expect to lag behind what I'm hearing compared to what i'm buying, but it'd be nice to be able to get hold of some of it at some point. Sorry for being a numpty, but I haven't a clue where to get my hands on this stuff, and I'd really like to
Gaz Walker
Can be hard/impossible. Good DJ's such as him get send lots of white label stuff from bands/producers etc and record companies - some of it you can't buy. http://www.htfr.com is a good place to start though. Gaz. Godmutha
http://www.juno.co.uk http://www.chemicalrecords.co.uk these are the two I used to use when I was Djing... There isnt a lot you cant find here.... Otherwise, if you get stuck, let me know and I can make some enquiries.
chilli
I think firstly don't you have to stop calling them choons lol, didn't that come and go in the 90's? yeah a lot of stuff will be white label / promo but most towns have a dj type shop, just become a regular and pick up the latest stuff that fits in with your style... at least you get to preview the stuff before buying it that way and can talk to like minded about what goes down well and what does not
edd_t
get very friends with your local vinyl shop! then they'll start getting out the white label vinyls behind the counter for you.
JustGav
I listened to the same Judge Jules set (The beginning half), and I enjoyed it, the problem is JJ actually mixes some other stuff into the tracks and the originals that you can get aren't the same... I looked at the track listing and even after 'getting' some they don't sound as good sadly...
SteveR
but most towns have a dj type shop... You've never been to the Malvern area, have you There really isn't anything like that round here... Thanks for the tips so far peeps, I'd hoped my thoughts (white label, promo only, mixed stuff that isn't teh same as the tracklistings) weren't correct, but it seems like they were I'll try the sites mentioned anyway. Guest subfocus
http://www.htfr.com is a good place to start though. Gaz. Avoid HTFR. Its the Keighley Trade Centre of DJing. They got raided in December for selling illegal bootlegs, and there so called rarities are more often than not poor represses from bad quality masters, and sometimes even tapes. Max Headroom
What are choons??? Are they similar to tunes??

On the other side of the coin, I've used them many times with no problems at all. A couple more good ones; globalgroove.co.uk puregroove.co.uk But expect to pay £££..... most records that are played by the likes of JJ Pete Tong etc end up about £7 or £8 each. A lot of them might be white label now (so not readily available) but radio plays quite often leads to a major label repressing it.

Jezz
I use http://www.juno.co.uk if i need something. But i've been on power promotions and the white disc for nearly 10 years, so most of the goodies land on my doorstep way before release. terribleturner
I used to subscribe to this company, think it was £18 a month, and i would get sent a double CD with new songs of the genre of my choice a month to 3 months before they came out. Was great untill i became poor again
