Nintendo wii

My girlfriend and I are thinking about getting a Nintendo wii as a joint birthday present for ourselves.

Thing is apart from liking the look of it from the adverts and hype, I don't really know much of anything about them.

What would we need? A console, 2 controllers and 2 nunchuck things?

Where's the best place to get it from? At first glance Argos seems to be about £100 cheaper than the likes of Amazon.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

You will only need 2 controllers if you want to play 2 player similateniously, if you want to play bowling or turn based games then 1 controller would be enough...i would buy 2 though.:)

Also i bought mine from GAME and they were really friendly, they may even sort you out a discount if you buy a few things.

You get one controller and nunchuck with it but deffinately buy a second one of each you will need them for the 2 players boxing. Then buy zelda and coupled with the hours on here and that game and you wont have much a life left. I didnt anyway. COmpleted it the other week and had a total game time of over 80 hours. 80 hours of my life gone!!! Just like that!!!.

I love my Wii, had to stop playing for a while following shoulder surgery :( Bought Excite Truck and Dragon Ball Z, awesome stuff, great fun, though need to finish Zelda once I'm better! There's also Super Paper Mario, Cooking Mama, Mario Galaxy and Smash Brothers Melee to look forward to!

Does the Wii have any games that aren't standard cartoony Nintendo stuff? The missus wants me to buy one, but I'm much more drawn towards the 360 with games like Gears of War

Only "realistic" games ive got are Call of duty 3 and Splinter cell. Graphics are decent but not a patch on the 360 or PS3, but then again i didnt buy it for its graphics. If its awesome graphics you are after then buy a 360 or PS3 but i dont think you can beat the Wii for pure fun, especially in groups of people (ie parties).
