DannyW
Bought a new laptop last week, the CD/DVD drive seems to have stopped working, it opens and closes ok but it doesn't appear to be reading the discs, when i put the disc in it would normally pop a window up to play the CD but now it's doesnt. In the "my computer" bit, i only have the hard drive, the CD drive isn't in there any more. What can i do to fix it? cheers. Edit to say it's running windows vista. Guest Geneb
if it just reappears after a certain amount of reboots take it back were you bought it from if it does it again sounds like a hardware fault:( unless you bought it from me
edd_t
ive had this a few times, a few things to check to see if its a hardware prob... is the cd/dvd rom removable? you can usually find a button underneath if it is. and if it is, remove it and put it back in! or, after putting a CD, pust hard on the cd/drvd rom to make a better connection. or, just to make sure it hasnt been magicly disabled: right mouse click on 'My Computer' select properties, Click on the Hardware tab, then device manager, look in the list for DVD/CD ROM drives, and make sure theres no 'no entry signs' on it, if there is, right mouse click and choose enable.
