Thanks, Tom

ChrisSZ
Best bet then would be to go for a full UK set-up
tomssupra
so why do people go for a uk setup? Is there something wrong with the japanese one?
ChrisSZ
UK spec have 4 pot callipers up front, two in rear, J-Spec are two up front, one in rear. UK spec are also a little larger in diameter and have a slightly larger pad surface. All adds up to better braking and less fade:)
tomssupra
hmm, cool thanks - how much am i looking and can my toyota specialist guy fit it in 2 hours?
colsoop
you are looking at about : £700 for front and rear calipers £300 for discs £150 for pads (Approximate prices) You can get them second hand for £400- £600 although they sell very quickly when they do come up for sale. ChrisSZ
hmm, cool thanks - how much am i looking and can my toyota specialist guy fit it in 2 hours? Sod getting some spanner-monkey to fit them - do 'em yourself mate - get intimate with your car and save a few pennies too:d (or bring the whole lot round and I'll do 'em whilst you open the beers LOL) PS Col - you forgot the brake fluid
Nic
It's a bit confusing calling the UK and J-spec brakes, as the J-spec Supras also came with the larger 4pot/2pot brakes as standard on some models and as an option on other. Tom if I wasn't in the Tech Section I'd tell you have the 4 pot fronts in stock, but I better not because the mods may be watching

Scooter
Tom what wheels have you got? Lots of wheels won't clear the uk calipers meaning yet more expense......
Scooter
just looked at your garage.............if the same wheels are on the car now i suspect they won't clear uk calipers.........

In that case, you could try speaking to Chris Wilson - he does some rather good pads;)
tomssupra
hi, sorry - these are the wheels (link below), that silver one in garage is old (and for sale soon... is UK brakes a good upgrade or should spending on the bhp first? http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1982&l=5ceb6&id=514391000
Chris Wilson
You can even make the J-Spec (small, sorry Nic:)) set up work for serious track day usage, given the right pads and fluid. They can be perfectly adequate for even a modded road car, with suitable friction material in them. The bigger brakes ARE better, but not vital.
