AndrewOW
My MOT is due on thursday, and as my car is full BPU, I was wondering if a full de-cat on this particular aged model could affect the MOT results? I've heard that as its an imported 1993 model there isn't significant emission data to require a cat to be re-installed for it to pass. I think the car is in perfect condition other than this, and would hope I wouldn't have to mess about for each MOT. The previous owner had said he never had to worry about it. I've also heard there are sport cats on the market that have a 95% efficiency rating. Would these be recommended as a compromise?
Rob
I think the car is in perfect condition other than this, and would hope I wouldn't have to mess about for each MOT. The previous owner had said he never had to worry about it. He would say that, he was selling you his car. I'll await correction, but most people here with de-cats have to replace the second, centre cat to pass an MOT. Those that don't generally have a sympathetic tester, but that may become rare now with the new computerised system in place.
Sheefa
Exactly as Rob said. The pre-93 cars, including the Supra, are now on the database so a CAT is needed to pass. Cat number 2 is easier to fit and remove after - fairly simple job so I've been told. I just found a friendly MOT tester, well, someone did for me
AndrewOW
I've got a friendly MOT tester, he's just a couple of units down the industrial estate. I should've got Rebas to put the cat back on when I went to see them on friday. Bugger. I assume the 2nd cat will fit with the Nur Spec exhaust I've got?
